TERM IV

Course 220: THE VITAL CONNECTION

Tuesdays:  14 October - 9 December:  7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Includes One Weekend: 1 - 2 November: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Course finishes 9th December 2008.

If your interest is in developing your counselling skills you will learn:

- what Attachment Counselling has to offer managers, parents and teachers.
- the skills needed to promote emotional and social maturity in self and others.
- to use attachment skills needed to help others grow and develop

In this course you will also learn:
how to help adults realise their full potential as human beings.
how to nurture children and provide necessary elements for their growth.
how to remove impediments to adolescents becoming their own person.

This course draws on Bowlby’s attachment theory to teach skills needed to cultivate the maturing process in others and help them accept limits and adapt to circumstances. While childhood is the time when most growing up should occur, managers, counsellors and parents need to understand the dynamics underlying the maturing process and be skilled in cultivating independence and responsibility in those in their charge.

You will increase your effectiveness as a manager, parent, teacher or professional helper by using this course to acquire a number of relatively simple skills which research has shown to be effective in promoting change in others.
